Danzig (1977-2006)


 

Danzig is best known for being a champion sire. He is the son of Hall of Famer Northern Dancer.
He stood stud at Claiborne Farms, near Paris, Kentucky where he become one of the worlds most important sires. He sired 188 grade stakes winners and 10 champions and his foals have earned more than $100 million in purse money. He may be most famously known as the grandsire of 2008 Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner, Big Brown.

He is buried at the Claiborne Farms cemetery.

He is currently standing stud at Claiborne Farms near Paris, Kentucky for a fee of $125,000. He has sired eighty-five stakes winners of which eighteen are Grade I winners.
